Creative Writing

              

This piece of creative writing is inspired by series of event in theme of survival in novel The Hunger Games . This is from peters perspective of how he had faked a betrayal against Katniss in the games for the benefit of her survival.

Wandering through the forest I feel a familiar sense of Katniss’s proximity. I go with my gut and walk towards where I think she is. Suddenly I hear the voice of Katniss in the back of my mind.

“Up here Peeta!” she quietly calls out to me. As I look up I see Katniss hiding on a branch up above looking down at me. Her facials are expressed like a mother who has found her lost child. I now feel a weight fall off my shoulders, knowing she is un harmed. I think to myself, ‘but wait, Cato and the others are coming this way, what should I do?’

I hear the others break through the light brush in the forest, its almost too late now there only a minute away. Out of nowhere my mouth suddenly shouts out “She’s here guys, she’s here, over here up the tree.” “Oh gosh, what have I done?” “Uhhh, hey wait guys, why don’t we just wait for her to come down? She’ll have to sooner or later”

Cato says to Peeta “when she’s dozing off and drops her guard I will shoot her out of he tree with the bow.” Katniss slowly dozes off in the tree as it night starts rolling in. Quietly Cato grabs the bow and tries to shoot Katniss, In a small voice I blurt words out at Cato so he loses concentration and misses his shot. Cato can’t handle it now, He has missed three shots and now she is coming to. His patience has run out and is trying to climb the tree with a sword in his hand and he will slay her in the spot. I start blurting words at Cato again, ‘Hurry up Cato, how hard is it to climb a tree, you’re useless.’ He turns around and looks at me like a vulture looking at a dead animal on the ground, I take a glance at Katniss and she drops a metal container from out of her pack, It hits Cato in the head and he slips and lands on his back.

I suggest we just wait as she will have to come down eventually. We take shifts on watching her as the rest of us sleep, Now it is my shift I wait a while to make sure the others are asleep. I call out to Katniss “ Katniss, Katniss, when daylight breaks through try and escape.” I am relieved Cato didn’t make it to her and he couldn’t harm her. I now wake up as morning has just come and I look up at the tree and Katniss is still there, I start to panic as from here I cannot help her.

In the distance I see one of the other contestants but it’s that little girl from District 11, I continuously watch her and see that she is pointing something out to Katniss. It is a bee hive of tracker jackers which are like wasps but very deadly. I notice she starts to saw off the branch with the tracker jackers attached to it, Whilst watching her she point to me to move away, As I am moving away a beehive drops on the ground right next to Cato and the others. The Wasps are angry and they start attacking everyone but one of the Girls didn’t make it out as all it takes is 4 stings to kill a person but her whole body was stung by them. We flee the area and in my mind it just knew Katniss would get herself out of this mess i have created. Cato and the others go ahead and I sneak off back to Katniss to see if she wasn’t stung, I find her on the ground and I pick her up and start screaming at her ‘Run Katniss, What are you doing, Run.’ She knows I’ll find her later to try make it up to her for what I have done.

Strength and Skill

Challenge

How it affected my participation:

it made me really think because it was more of a mental challenge than a physical challenge. My actions had to be the same as the rest of the class so that the task would be successful.

Why it affected my participation

It made me want to participate because I enjoy a challenge. Even though when I heard we where using the parachute i was disappointed because its normally easy and boring this time it was quiet challenging so it made me wanna get more involved.

Social factor.

How it affected my participation

Since it was a class activity we weren’t split up which was good cause I got to go next to my mates and do the activity with them which made me want to participate. Sometimes when we get put into groups and i don’t know anyone it makes me not wanna participate. 

Why it affected my participation

Since i got to work with my friends it made me have fun and participate. I enjoyed the activity more than if i was with people i didn’t know. 

Fun and Enjoyment

How it affected my participation 

If the activity is boring then I wouldn’t want to participate but this was pretty fun so i participated and tried my best to do all the given tasks.

Why it affected my participation

Because i had fun with my friends so i fully participated in the activity because i was enjoying it.

Bearing in mind the criteria in ‘Resource A’, SO WHAT could you do to improve your future participation

I dont think there is much else i could of done  but maybe help pack away the gear and also include other class mates who maybe are not participating as much as they should.

Fun & Enjoyment

Swimming at the wharf was fun as it was raining so we were getting wet before we even got in the water and we were popping bombs

 

Social Factor

It was a good social factor as for the people that did come to the wharf, who doesn’t like to just jump into the water and have a lil swim around and we were all involved swimming unless you were the people that stayed behind helping in the gym

 

Environmental Appreciation 

We/I appreciate the wharf/sea as we are not far from it and its free to just go for a swim and we were not harming the environment from swimming by the wharf

Fun and enjoyment

The game on the turf was fun as we all had to be involved and co operating to get the fastest time to collect all the numbered dots.

Challenge

It was a bit of a challenge as only one person could be in the circle at one time otherwise we would be disqualified as a team and our time wouldn’t count plus we all had only one minute as a team to sort whos getting which numbered dot and try not to get into each others way so we could get the fastest time.

Social Factor

Everyone had to be involved and we wanted to include everyone as if we didn’t co operate it would be hard as we need to communicate as a team to get the fastest time and get around the circle without getting in each others way.
